BACKGROUND: In a world far different, and perhaps more colorful, than our own, a country-girl of a mouse married a royal-boy of a mouse, and for a long time, it felt as if Happily Ever After could never end. They ruled peacefully over Disney Castle, and she couldn't ask for anything more. But if everything continued this way, all sunshine and lollipops, we wouldn't have much a story now, would we?

One night, the royal couple discovered the stars were disappearing from the night sky. Minnie found it strange, but she had no idea that these were different worlds being swallowed up by the Darkness, until her husband quietly divulged the secrets beyond their realm - knowing of other worlds was forbidden and dangerous. When her husband was gone the next day, she swallowed any anger or sadness to him, and instead trusted in him to return to her when he time was right. In the meanwhile, she would continue to rule as best as she could on her own, as he had left specific instructions behind. But as she waited, little by little, Disney Castle began to be invaded and corrupted by the very same Darkness Mickey had seen devour other worlds. On one dark and black day, the Castle was over-run by the Darkness, and people with cruel intentions began to take over. The Queen tried to fight against the invaders and save her people, but her own powers backfired against her - she hadn't used them in so long, for there was no combat or violence in Disney Castle before - and she was completely knocked out.

Disney Castle was destroyed, with the inhabitants either dead, or scattered on other worlds. Minnie had been kidnapped by the leaders of the attack, a vicious witch named Maleficent and her lackey, Pete. After all, she could serve as a fitting hostage, and though her powers were rusty, they had great potential. But there was an additional price to pay - the accidental attack on herself, along with the overwhelming emotional issues, had given the Queen tremendous holes in her memory. Using this to their advantage, Maleficent began to teach Minnie how to properly use her powers - manipulating light itself into a powerful attack, which will naturally be explained in that given section. She became a somewhat loyal servant to the witch, having little else to depend on.

As time passed, she slowly began to remember things long forgotten, the strongest one being of a man she loved with all of her heart. She began to doubt the 'lessons' Maleficent and Pete were instilling in her, and she became obsessed with finding out who this mystery man could be. When Minnie was finally being 'let in' on the plans Maleficent and Pete were doing - namely, kidnapping the Princesses of Light for their own cruel designs - she couldn't go along with it. When the two had successfully captured one such Princess, Minnie had gotten a grasp of her powers - and used it right on Maleficent and Pete. Since it wouldn't stop them for long, she fled with the Princess. However, she now had no place to go, and she couldn't trust which memories were real, and which were fake. Who was right, and who was wrong?

The Princess assured her that eventually, all of her memories would be restored, and that Minnie's destiny lay in a world called Earth. If Minnie promised to help protect one of their fellow Princesses, a little girl named Kairi, then they would help her voyage to Earth. However, because of Minnie's 'alliance' with Maleficent and Pete, she would have to do this protection in secret, and hide what little past she had gained. Since she had been in the presence of Darkness for so long, some of it had gathered within her heart, and reuniting with them again could lead her to losing her heart. To make extra sure this wouldn't happen, the Princess blessed Minnie with a gift - she could stay in her mouse form when she felt it was safe, and have an alternate human form when she needed to be in public.

Believing that ensuring Kairi's protection would get back her true memories, and perhaps even lead her to the man in her dreams, Minnie agreed to the proposition, called herself Minerva, and applied for a job at the Institute. Nearly being a 'spy' among the staff, she would teach a class to watch over the girls and Kairi, namely, Gardening. After all, who would ever suspect a sweet girl teaching how to take care of roses that she once 'helped' take over worlds with Darkness?

PERSONALITY: Even her current voice actor said the one word to describe Minnie was 'sweet', and with good reason. She's a bleeding heart for everyone and anyone, always wanting to help others out, even if she can accidentally make it worse. But she always honestly means well, and that bleeding heart is huge. She can't stand to see anyone else miserable or hurt, and so will do whatever is in her ability to make the situation better. She'll even sometimes hold back her own feelings to try and help - such as holding back her sadness at he husband leaving, so as to not depress the people around her.

With that in mind, she usually will think the best of people upon first meeting them, an even if they do show signs of rudeness or wickedness, she can still believe that there is good deep inside. (She believes this of Pete. Maleficent, not so much.) Not to say she doesn't have a temper - if you annoy her or go against her wishes, she'll go into a silent, pouty anger, and you'll pretty much have to kiss up or flatter her in order to quell it. Once that forgiveness is earned, she'll trust you all over again, so it my take her a few times to realize that someone is in fact just BAD.

Additionally, she's a girly-girl. The sort who loves make up and dresses and bright colors and kittens fairy tales and house-wife duties, etc. She might ignore something important if something cute is being especially distracting. This can lead to some bad naivety, such as believing true love can conquer anything (including her own amnesia), anyone who likes pretty flowers can't be bad, there's no such thing as a bad Prince... as one can imagine, this mentality gets her into trouble a lot. Thanks to that, she's the original damsel in distress, though she will at least try to get herself out of a bad situation before calling out for help. That includes using what she believes to be her 'feminine wiles', using her pretty looks to try and get her way, when she thinks it will work. She doesn't particularly like to do this, except for teasing a boy she really does like. (bat of the lashes, the giggle~)

APPEARANCE: Mouse Form - Quite petite, the tips of her big, round black ears coming up to the stomach of the average adult human, she's the very essence of 'awwww'. She has black fur with a light nuzzle, along big eyes and a big black nose. She has four fingers, common for people of her home world, and a short black tail, which can sometimes be used to tell what kind of mood she's in. (Startled makes it stick out straight, curious makes it curly, etc.) She's been slowly growing black, curly bangs on the top of her head. She usually wears dresses, gloves, bows and high-heels. A common ever day outfit would be white gloves with small black stripes, a red bow on the top of her head, a frilly red and white polka-dot dress, and red high-heels. She'll be in this form when she thinks she's alone, or with people she trusts.

Disguised!Human Form - She's still a shortie, even in this form, only reaching 4'8. Her fur is replaced with light white skin, and she has flowing black hair, smoothly straight past her shoulders. She's thin and small all over, making her look like a child, or at best, a tiny teenager. (Which somewhat annoys her, as she'd like to be taken seriously as an adult, even if she does have childish tenancies.) The longest part of her are probably her legs, and she has additional fingers, giving her five on each hand to fit the human world. She still likes to have the whole bow-dress-gloves-heels bit with her outfits in this form, although she's learning she has to cover more of herself, such as her leg, as she's unused to his height and the human norm of covering up more body parts.

POWERS: Now when I say Light Manipulation, I don't mean that incredibly vague thing that counters the Darkness. She absorbs actual light - from the sun, from lightbulbs, from anything that can give off a light - into her body for storage, and then can call it forth through her palms to cast that light. To put it visually, when she calls on this power, her body will have a faint, white glow, and then shell hold up her hands to wherever or whatever she's aiming at, and light will shine forth from her palms to the target. The more light she uses, the deadlier the power becomes. When it's a faint use, it's not harmful, and is just used to cast light in a dark room, or perhaps give a dried flower some heat. When it's a heavy use, the light can cause harsh burns, third-degree, cause momentary blindness, and, if she has enough/the target is weak enough, melt things. Pure, natural light from the sun gives her more energy and will last longer, whereas absorbing some from a lightbulb will have only a short, weak, lasting effect.

First-person sample: Oh, is this how I talk to everyone? I've never used something like this before... Technology is so advanced here! But at least this device is so cute! I could easily get used to this...

Anyway, my name is Ms. Minerva Mouse, and it's a pleasure to be here and meet all of you. In case it's no been said yet, I'll be your new Gardening teacher. I hope to see a lot of you signed up for my class, it'll be such fun! I even heard some of you have a club about it? I would love to join! ... Are teachers allowed to join student clubs? Maybe I should ask someone first..

But it's okay! I know we're all going to get along just wonderfully! I look forward to meeting each and every single one of you! We'll have such a good time together, you can count on that. After all, there are so many adorable students here! I just love children!

Oh, and speaking of 'meeting'... is there a miss Kairi here? I'd like to have a word with you, as soon as possible.
Third-person sample: Oh, did they have to stare? Sure, she was walking rather strangely, but if you knew why, you surely couldn't blame her, or at least that's how she believed. She took her time on the stone sidewalk, her little frame wobbling with each step she made. This form would really take some time getting used to! Not only was she taller than usual, but the lack of a tail threw off her balance more than she expected. every so often, she'd have to grasp the nearby fence for support, ignoring the looks she was getting from passerbys. Maybe she shouldn't have tried to use high-heels in this new form...

But, never-the-less! She proceeded forward, determined to make it to her destination... the Institute that would guarantee the return of her memories, as long as she kept her tiny mouth shut. And how hard could teaching adorable students be? She continued onward with her walk, distracting herself form the stares by picturing her goals, and keeping her eyes on the Institute, now only a few feet away. She could do this! She'd find this 'Kairi' girl, she'd protect her, she'd get her memories back, and then she'd meet the man in her dreams! Because... well, why wouldn't she?

But before her fingers could even grace the front door, her ears picked up an itty-bity sound, high-pitched and nearby. Piqued by curiosity, she looked away from the Institute, and now headed in the direction of the continuing sound. After a few minutes of this search, adding in a few more as she began to master walking, she realized the sound was coming from the bottom of a tall oak tree. Nestled under fallen leaves was stray cat, a calico from the looks of it.

The Institute? Kairi? Man of her dreams? All forgotten in an instant, as she suddenly let out a delighted squeal. "Oooh! Look at you!" She fell to her knees, arms darting out to grab the rather surprised feline. She rubbed her nose into its fur, cooing lovingly at this cute creature. "Aren't you just precious? Yes you are! Oh, were you lonely? Hungry? Cold? I could knit you up a nice little sweater!" She babbled on, stroking it tenderly,perhaps oblivious to the annoyed face it was giving. Alas, she continued giving it all of her attention...

... Until the school-bell rang.

Startled, she dropped the cat, which eagerly scampered away. Minnie looked back at the Institute, remembering what she was there for. "Oh, I'm late!" She cried, wobbily getting back on her feet. "Oh, but the kitty!" She looked to the ground, but it had already vanished. She looked back and forth between that spot and the school, slightly torn, but then clenched her fists, making a new vow. Very well! She'd find this Kairi, she'd protect her, she'd get her memories back, she'd meet the man of her dreams... then help the kitty. "I promise I'll come back and help you later, Mister Kitty!"She called out, and then resumed her walking quest, wondering for a moment how long it'd be until she got the hang of human legs.
