Hello, everyone. I hope you're all having a good day. I was just talking with a new friend, and she made me want to do 'that' again... By which I mean, share fairy tales! My home has so many fairy tales, and I love telling them to others. So if you'd like to hear one, just say so, and I'll spin a story with you!

Do the sounds of witches, magic pics, and an undead army sound interesting?

It does... and something I haven't often heard about.

Once upon a time, there was a brave young boy named Taran. He was an assistant pig farmer, but wanted to someday be a great warrior. One day, he was charged with protecting a very special pig named Hen Wen. Hen Wen was no ordinary pig, though. When she drank water, she had the power to reveal ancient oracles! There was a very powerful person who wanted this pig... The Horned King.

Sounds like the bad guy of this tale... did he managed to get her?

The Horned King sent out his minions to find Taran and Hen Wen, but Taran left his home in order to protect the pig. He knew the awful legends of the horned King... a soul of pure evil, who wanted to use Hen Wen to find the Black Cauldron. The Cauldron had the power to bring to life an army of invincible, undead warriors to conquer the world. So Taran traveled with his pig, and along the way, they met a strange little creature named Gurgi. Gurgi was a cowardly little one, and he was constantly hungry but also very lonely. So Taran decided to take the creature with him during the travels.

Little did they know that the Horned King was still watching them...

So he knew where they were...

They were ambushed before they could even reach the next village! The Horned King had sent his minions to capture Hen Wen, and Taran gave desperate chase, all the way to the castle of the villain. He and Gurgi snuck in, and stopped Hen wen before she could fully show the whereabouts of the cauldron. Taran managed to help Hen Wen escape, but he and Gurgi were captured, and locked in the dungeon. Much to their surprise, there were other prisoners in the dungeon... a wandering minstrel named Fflewddur Fflam, and a beautiful princess named Eilonwy. The four of them decided to work together to escape the dungeon, because Taran understood Hen Wen's interrupted oracle...

He knew how to get the Cauldron!

Ooh... it's getting more and more interesting.

With the princess's special magical amulet, the new friends escaped the dungeon, and went to meet the Fair Folk in their village. They had already found Hen Wen, and promised to protect him, if Taran would take their enchanted sword. The Fair Folk were being troubled by three witches who demanded to have the sword, and Taran remembered seeing the witches in Hen Wen's oracle. Taran and the others found the witches, and Taran told them he would hand over the sword if they gave him the Black Cauldron. The witches agreed, and handed it over. Only the right spell would awaken its magic, and only the cost of a life would make it stop once it was awakened.

But before Taran could try and think of a way to destroy the Cauldron... The Horned King and his minions had caught up, and captured them! All but Gurgi, who cowardly ran away...

Oh no. [Though in his mind he's been wondering what this Gurgi looks like.]

The Horned King knew the spell to work the Cauldron, and once he used it, he unleashed a terrible army of invincible undead soldiers! Taran and his friends tried to fight the soldiers, but it did no good. Not even the princess's magic amulet could help fend them off. It looked like it was the end for the friends... But then, out of the shadows, came Gurgi! He knew the sacrifice that had to be made to save his friends, and so, without another moment's hesitation, he jumped into the cauldron, sacrificing himself. The cauldron began to suck the dead soldiers back inside, and Taran shoved the Horned King into the cauldron with them, sealing him up for all eternity.

... oh Gurgi. He was really brave in the end.

Now who said it was the end?

When the battle was finished and the friends were grieving over their loss, the witches reappeared. They were very greedy, and wanted the Cauldron back. Taran refused to hand it over unless they made a new trade. He wanted them to bring Gurgi back to life, since his life was just as valuable, if not more, than that of the sword they handed back. The witches agreed, and Gurgi was alive once more!

The princess then confessed she was not a princess, but a mere scullery maid. But that didn't matter to Taran, for he loved her just as she was. The friends rejoiced, and they all lived happily ever after.

Happy endings are always the best, aren't they?
