Cinderella tried and tried to escape, but it was no use.
The prince and his men arrived at Cinderella's house, and began to try the slipper on the step-sister's feet. Of course it didn't fit them, but while they were distracted, the animal friends found Cinderella's locked room, and managed to find the key and free her. She ran down the stairs, asking to try on the slipper. The Step-mother said she was just a maid, but the prince's servants insisted... after all, they were supposed to try it on every maiden. But as the servant with the slipper approached, the Step-mother stuck out her foot to trip him, and when he fell, the slipper was smashed to bits. If her daughters couldn't be princesses, she would never let Cinderella be one!
